The Virginia DMV requires frequent paperwork that many families put off because it means lines, English-only forms, and rules that change by city. A&C handles these errands on your behalf — from renewing a sticker to replacing a lost title — so you don't have to lose an entire morning at the DMV office.

We return your plates to the DMV so you can cancel your insurance without fines or suspension.
When you need this:
What you need: the vehicle's physical plates.
Virginia is clear on this: never cancel a vehicle's insurance before surrendering or deactivating its plates. Do it the other way around, and the DMV can suspend your license and registration for driving "without insurance" — even if you no longer use the car (Virginia DMV).
We process a replacement title with the DMV when the original is lost, damaged, or no longer valid.
When you need this:
What you need: a signed Power of Attorney, the signed DMV replacement application, and vehicle and owner information.
We renew your vehicle's annual registration directly with the DMV. $140 in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Suffolk; $160 in Virginia Beach.
When you need this: your registration is about to expire or already expired.
What you need: a copy of your registration or title, and no outstanding property tax, toll, or traffic ticket debts.
Every vehicle registered in Virginia must keep an active sticker to legally drive (Virginia DMV).
We obtain a copy of your already-renewed stickers or your vehicle registration.
When you need this: you already renewed but need a copy, or you lost your registration.
We process new plates when yours were lost, stolen, or you're not sure where they ended up.
What you need: the number of the lost plates, or a copy of your registration.
We transfer your current plates to a new or recently purchased vehicle. $265 for vehicles valued $1–$1,800; $273 for $2,000, in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
What you need: the new vehicle's title or information, and your current plates.
We register your vehicle in Virginia for the first time and process new plates.
When you need this: you bought a vehicle, or you moved to Virginia.
What you need: the title (or one from another state), valid ID, proof of Virginia insurance, and proof of purchase price if applicable.
On top of our fee, the DMV charges: $15 for the title, $30.75 to $35.75 for annual registration, and 4.15% Sales and Use Tax (minimum $75) — exempt if you already held a valid title from another state (title, registration, SUT — Virginia DMV).
We go to the DMV on your behalf to find out why your account has a hold ("stop").
What you need: a signed Power of Attorney and details on what you'd like us to look into.
We get you your E-ZPass transponder, with or without full account activation.
The DMV's E-ZPass kit costs $35 and already includes a $15 balance — it works right away, but you need to register it at ezpassva.com to use it out of state and claim the remaining $20 (Virginia DMV).
We make payments and handle one-off DMV errands on your behalf when you don't have time to go.
This is the most costly mistake we see at A&C: cancelling a vehicle's insurance before surrendering or deactivating its plates with the DMV.
Virginia requires every vehicle with active plates to carry valid insurance at all times. Cancel your insurance first, and the DMV can suspend your license and registration for driving "without insurance" — even if you no longer use the car.
